1. Watch Kecak Dance at GWK and Uluwatu Temple
Kecak Dance is an original traditional dance from Bali. This dance tells the story of Ramayana and is played mainly by men. Usually, the dance can be performed by dozens of men sit around in a certain rhythm.
The performers describe the story of Ramayana as a line of apes helped Rama against Ravana. The dancers who sit in a circle also said “cak cak cak” by raising both hands.
The dancers sitting in a circle is wearing a checkered cloth encircling their waist. In addition to the sitting dancers, there are also other dancers who play a role as the Ramayana figures such as Rama, Shinta, Ravana, Hanuman, and Sugriwa.
The two famous places for holding this show is in Uluwatu temple and GWK (Garuda Wisnu Kencana). You have to buy the ticket in advance because usually it is always sold out! But it sounds good because it means there are many traditional dance enthusiasts who want to watch this Balinese dance.
The stage in Uluwatu temple has a capacity of 500 people, it is quite large, isn’t it? Anyway, the sunset view in Uluwatu temple also becomes the main reason for people to come there. No wonder the dance show here is held at 6 pm, so you can watch the dance performances and sunset at the same time.
Besides, to watch the Kecak Dance show in GWK Park there is no additional charge at all. You only need to pay the entrance ticket. But, there is no sunset view as in Uluwatu temple.
