As an ancient religion, many local particularities existed. Hence, Torajans is famous for its culture and tradition. Start your tour with a convenient hotel pick up in Makassar City at 08.00 AM. Around 8 – 9 hours drive to Tana Toraja, you’ll find yourself gazing out over stunning cascading rice fields and Bugisnese traditional houses. On your second day, your Spanish speaking guide will take you to Kete’ Kesu Village, Marante Village, and Palalwa Village to witness Tongkonan traditional house and unusual burial site. Aside from that, you will also visit local “tenun” or traditional hand-weaved industries in Sa’dan To’Barana weaving village. Visit Kete’ Kesu, a traditional village situated in the mountainous region of Tana Toraja. That village is comprised of 6 Tongkonan and rice barn that set in rows facing each other. Adorned with beautiful design and distinguished by its oversized boat-shaped roof, this village is definitely interesting for tourists.
Not far from the Tongkonan complex, you can find the ancient cave grave and hanging grave, estimated at over 500 years old.
Be amazed by Bori’ Menhir, a megalithic funeral site, and burial ground. This place is dotted with more than 100 standing stone pillars or menhirs, supposed to honor the Torajan ancestors.

Another burial site to visit is Loko’mata. Located around 30 km from Rantepato, Loko’mata is the biggest burial stone in Tana Toraja. Carved with more than 20 burial chambers that aligned in four levels, Loko’mata is a burial site that shouldn’t be missed on your tour.
