This largest Buddhist temple has structure resembles the idea of a terraced mountain blending in with the Buddhist concept of ascending steps to attain Nirvana. The walls are filled with detailed murals depicting celestial beings, guardian demons, various animals including elephants, deer, to monkeys. Not far from Borobudur Temple, there are two small temples namely Pawon Temple and Mendut Temple that should not be missed. Because, according to historians, the two temples have close links with the largest Buddhist temple in the world. We include visits to the Pawon and the Mendut Temples.
